Whisky enthusiasts in good spirits at the Whiskies of the World Expo

The 13th Annual Whiskies of the World® Expo saw over 1200 visitors on the San Francisco Belle, Saturday March 31st. Over 50 whisky exhibitors showcased their finest spirits and attendees were able to sample over 200 whiskies while learning the history of each spirit.

Douglas Smith, Event Director commented “I’m thrilled at the increasing numbers of whisky newbies we are seeing at the show. It creates a great mix of seasoned enthusiasts and whisky converts.”

Steve Beal, Senior Master of Whisky and Keeper of the Quaich mentioned "We have been at this show since its very beginning and find that it really helps us reach our optimum target consumer in a very effective way. It’s a very balanced grip with a lot of new consumers each year. It also provides an entertaining, responsible, fun platform to get our message across. I get lots of rave reviews from consumers. The show is a major investment but we do get our money's worth. We also find it very helpful in supporting and reaching our many loyal retail partners and their customers along the West Coast.”

One of the most popular tables at the event was the Samoroli whiskies booth(Independent bottler from Italy). Attendees favored the Samoroli Evolution whisky and Samoroli kindly donated one bottle to the Whiskies of the World’s nominated charity - The Aids and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. The Evolution is a vatting of many old vintages including Ardbeg 1974 and 1976, Springbank 1979, 1985, and 1988 Lagavulin 19, Port Ellen 1981, Laphraoig 1971, Springbank 1965, Bruichladdich 1964, and a Mortlach 1957.  The Samoroli table was a unique addition to the event offering rare and expensive whiskies.

Other popular whiskies were the Glendronach 12 Year Old, Isle of Arran Sherry Cask, Auchroisk 20 Year Old and Glen Spey.
